Slows to stop and abruptly starts
I have a rebuilt 1996, 48V Club Car and I'm a novice in the golf cart world.
My problem crept up slowly over the past few months. At first it would start up fine, run at speed and slow just a bit after 3 or 4 minutes run time. I thought it was just battery power waning a bit. In the past week the cart has slowed down and coasted to a full stop. When I re-depress the pedal (in forward or reverse) the cart moves very slowly. I have to completely depress the pedal in order to make it move at all. And at some point (the distance varies) will kick abruptly into running. It chattered a couple of times doing this but mostly just kicks once and runs smooth. There is no pattern to the stops and starts, it might run, park and run again several times without incident, or stop/quit and start several times in one short run. The speed that it kicks into reverse seems excessively fast. I can hear the solenoid operate each and every time I depress the pedal. My batteries are just over 2 years old, have been well maintained and in good condition. I have disconnected and cleaned most electrical terminal connections. I suspect a loose connection somewhere but do not understand the intricacies of the circuitry, or what part the solenoid and OBC play in it. I am hoping someone recognizes this problem and knows of a very easy and inexpensive fix, and I also have dreams of a huge lottery win. However, welcome and will appreciate any thoughts and suggestions. Cheers Jim Gordon |

Re: Slows to stop and abruptly starts
The next time it acts up try pumping the throttle about 20 times with the key off. If it clears up it would only be temporary and would indicate a MCOR issue.

Re: Slows to stop and abruptly starts
Thank you Golferdave and tag50. I think you nailed it. I believe that component is under the floor below the steering wheel. I am going to explore how to remove and replace it. I think I can handle it as long as I have instructions to follow. Something tells me that I will have a hard time finding a replacement part.
Ser. No. is A9638-529268 if anyone happens to have a source. thanks Jim |

Re: Slows to stop and abruptly starts
May need to convert to a "Vglide " or an MCOR
I think the speed box system you have fell by the way-side. Site sponsor TahoeDawg can probably fix you up |
