Default stock solenoid wiring?

1995 Medalist with a series motor. Does it matter which large terminal on the solenoid goes to the battery+ and which one goes to the controller+?

Thanks

The stock solenoid may have a “+” near one terminal. If it doesn’t, it probably doesn’t matter.

No. The coil being activated by energizing the small posts causes a piece inside the solenoid to move and close the connection between the large posts. Someone smarter can explain it better, but that’s the gist.

The stock solenoid is not polarity sensitive. Some better aftermarket solenoids have magnetic breakout which does require the battery cable on a specific terminal but, not the stock solenoid.

The small tertminals are not polarized, but the diode is and in the picture you posted in your other thread, the diode is connected backwards.

The banded end of the diode should be connected to the small terminal with the red (B+) wire on it.

From the first pic, it does look like the banded end is connected to the wrong terminal, but it's not. If you look at the close up pic I just took, you can see the band is on the right terminal. Thanks for keeping an eye out, greatly appreciated. I know just enough to get myself in trouble.
