Default 2007 TXT 36 volt Grinding noise

Hey guys newbie here. Picked up a 2007 EZGO TXT 36 volt yesterday. New batteries and the cart runs great except for, when let off the throttle a noise is coming from the rear driver side wheel. When throttle is applied the noise stops. I also pushed the cart a bit and went slow, the noise appears to be coming from the area near the hub/brake. A clicking or grinding would be the best way to describe it. Any ideas on where to start and what to do? Thanks, Nick

Jack it up. Get the wheel off. Get the brake drum off. See what you see. I don’t know if it points to a brake issue or a hub issue, but when you get it apart it should be apparent that it’s one or the other.

Got the wheel off, everything appears tight. When you spin the hub it spins free but hangs up at one spot on the rotation. Maybe the brake catching? Is this normal or should the hub spin freely all the time and not slow down at catch at the same spot. This is on the drivers side rear wheel.

Slight drag is normal & acceptable. Inspect splines inside brake drum.

Splines look good, adjusted the brake a little and tightened everything back up. No more noise thanks guys. Now I’m really stoked on the new cart
