89 Club Car DS newbie owner
I have an 89 ds limo that im trying to completely restore. I wanna do all new wiring. Possibly upgrade the system from 36v to 48v and any other upgrades that everyone recommends. Some of the problems im running into is where to find limo kick plates, front seat arm rests, roof supports and a long roof. Im also not sure if they sell a whole wiring kit or if ill have to just buy a bunch of wire and do it all my self. Any help would be much appreciated.

Re: 89 Club Car DS newbie owner
In 1989 CC made resistor coil drive systems. Has the cart been upgraded to solid state drive?

Re: 89 Club Car DS newbie owner
Yes the spring things are the resistor coils.
You will want to gut all of that out and replace with a solid state system, it's much better in terms of speed, reliability, and upgrade availability. There's conversion kit here that will give you everything you need in one convenient package, along with a lot of information for you to read and digest, as well as support from a top notch sponsor here https://www.cartsunlimited.net/conversion-kits.html |

Re: 89 Club Car DS newbie owner
The more expensive options add more goodies/upgraded parts... like HD Forward/Neutral switch, cables, etc.
BEst bet would be to contact him and he can guide you for exactly what you need based on your intentions/planned future upgrades/etc. |

And as for the kick plates, trim stuff, arm rests, etc... You'll probably have to get creative and fab your own. You can try and post an ad in the for sale/wanted section here, but you'd have a much easier time getting something for another cart and modifying it to fit yours.

My yamaha came with no top, a plank of wood as the back seat rest, and a pile of junk. I made my own seat, Used a top from a DS I bought from my local cart shop for $10, DS struts donated from a local member here, wheels I took off of a 4wheeler project I did before, and a cargo basket from another 4wheeler project. That was on there until I bought a G2 project and stole the rear seat off of it, bought new cushions for it and cut out and welded back all the rusted stuff, had a nice rear seat on it after that :) It all depends on your personal abilities and imagination. There are a LOT of very helpful folks on here, we all love the hobby, as addictive as it may be |
