Default 1970 ez-go

I have a 1970 electric ez-go and the motor may not be able to rebuild. First is there a retrofit for a gas engine? The next question is what next? Is there a place that still has the direct drive type motor. (36v)

That stock motor could be possibly rebuilt (maybe speed upgrades too) by PlumQuick or others (Nivel /High Torque used to do it, they Can rebuild the motor). You could also consider upping the voltage to 48v for an instant 33% speed and torque increase. That will probably require other upgrades as well. Better cables, better solenoid, and obviously a 48v charger.

You would get a better response in the Clone Engine section, since most people drop clone engines in their old carts.

You will loose reverse if you use the stock electric rear diff.

I converted my sparky to gas. I use the stock rear diff and I have no issues without reverse, but I am not off roading my cart either.

Good luck!

I have one or two options for shops that rebuild motors. I'll ask them. It did run last fall but had noise coming from the rear end. Turned out to be water got in the motor and has rust. Quote: No tombstone ever read.(I wish I had worked more OT)
