Default 2001 ezgo controller problem

I have a 2001. EZGO 36v cart that just quit running. Batteries are good. Replaced solenoid. Did not solve problem. There is 36.5v on large post battery side of solenoid and 36v on large post on controller side. Small posts do not show any reading with key on and pedal pressed. The Cart is a TXT non DCS with a Curtis controller1206 fp. How can I test controller. Where can I get a replacement controller if it is bad. Any help would be appreciated.

Sounds like your problem is within the activation circuit and not the controller or solenoid, also 36.5 volts is pretty low, when was the last time you charged your batteries?

Sorry. The battery voltage was 38.5 on both large terminals of the solenoid and no voltage on the small terminals with key on and pedal depressed. The state of charge meter does not light up and the reverse buzzer does not sound when you move the lever to reverse. You mentioned the activation circuit - how do I check that. Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks.

Here is the solenoid activation circuit for a Series TXT. Note the power starts at the receptacle. Check there and follow the diagram. Could just be a blown reed switch. Google the site for that. A pic of a reed switch bypass from carts unlimited included...

The activation circuit or "low current loop" is the small wiring in your cart that must make a complete closed circuit to activate the solenoid, it is a series of micro switches, reed switch, and your key switch. The first thing I would check is the reed switch as they are notorious for going out. It is located in the charger recepticle and it's purpose is to disable the cart while the charger is plugged in. To test you can disconnect the red wire that goes into the back of the charger recepticle and make a jumper wire and connect this to the main battery pack positive. If this fixes your problem you can leave it this way, just make sure your charger is disconnected before you take off in your cart.

You beat me to it Scotty, Thanks for chiming in. I'm not the best at explaining things, but I'm pretty good at troubleshooting.

Thanks scottyb and Bmatlock00. The reed switch was not bad but the connection was corroded. I cut out the bad connection and put in a new one and cart is good to go. Your help was greatly appreciated.

I have by-passed my reed switch by going directly to power at the battery pack. If I remove my reed switch completely do I still need the power from the pack?
