Still blowing fusses - Calling Yoda of EZGO Gas Cart
I have hired someone to go over every wire and circuit on the golf cart and today after a 1/2 hour ride it blew the fuse 15 amp (in between battery and switch to turn cart on) once again.
The technician told me that if it blew the fuse again it is probably the hitachi starter generator 1427060220? Can anyone confirm or deny this. I'm at my wits end with this now. EZGO marathon GX444 1991 Engine is a Robin The incident today happened as follows: Was driving downhill at a good speed when car shut off . Checked fuse and it was blow. Replaced fuse and verified it was good by putting it in reverse and it beeped. Tried to drive it and the fuse blew again. I'm all ears. |

I posted a response but decided to remove it.
If you ask a question, and are truly looking for help, you should probably stick around a few minutes and see if someone answers. There are a lot of smart guys on this forum. Most questions get a correct answer within a few minutes, but nobody wants to help someone that isn't engaged with the issue. |

I wish I knew what you are talking about?
I am engaged, and I posted this exact problem at a prior date. I was told to check all electrical circuits for a short. Since I do not have the expertise to do this myself, I hired someone to do it for me. No electrical shorts were found. The technician suggested the hitachi starter generator 1427060220 was probably the problem it's it reoccurred. |

What I am talking about is this...
The collective effort of all the people on this forum is worth more than any one hired technician. All we ask in return is that you stay engaged with the conversation of your question, and not immediately log off. |

Is it possible that you have a bad key switch assembly? Maybe its shorting out and blowing the fuse.

Thanks sccowboy. I will swtich it out with a new one.
Do you think there is any merit to swapping out the starter/generator? |

Re: Still blowing fusses - Calling Yoda of EZGO Gas Cart
I'm really not sure about that having any merit..... unless you're the guy selling a generator at dealer prices. I mean it could be anything causing the fuse to blow but someone just re-wired the whole cart and its still blowing the fuse, so you could then lean toward a component causing the issue. You also could consider the solenoid having an issue. If you look at the diagram, the solenoid is part of the circuit you are having trouble with as are the highlighted pieces.

I'll apologize up front because my knowledge of Golf Carts and Electronics is very limited. I can't really follow the diagram without some guidence.
Are you saying the solenoid in the key switich might be bad? If you think that's the next think to replace I will. |

Re: Still blowing fusses - Calling Yoda of EZGO Gas Cart
No, I am saying that the key switch could be shorting out or possibly the solenoid. On the diagram, the solenoid (labeled) has several wires going to it. Its job is to close when a trigger voltage is applied to it. That voltage comes from the left side of the solenoid (as shown on the diagram and is a small wire off the "B" terminal) It then goes through the fuse and out of the key switch to both the neutral and accelerator limit switches and then finally back to the solenoid. When the neutral switch is closed and the pedal pressed (closing the accel switch) trigger voltage hits the solenoid closing it. When it closes it lets power flow from the B terminal (large wire) to the A terminal (large wire) and on to the starter. What I was saying is that it may be possible that the solenoid has something wonky going on. Take your time and look at the chart closely. Then locate the components shown on your cart. You should then be able to follow the various circuits.
