G22E motor/controller
Have 50.2 volts at batteries. Solenoid clicks from tow to run. With meter on pos. / neg. of controller, the volts drop (key on). If I rock the cart with go pedal on the floor, it chugs along but doesn't go like normal. Motor gets hot. Thanks for helping...Jim.

sounds like bad brushes in motor. stop doing that until motor is removed & inspected. you are at risk of also killing the controller by forcing it to drive like that.

Thank you. I'm not driving it, just threw that in there to aid in diagnostic. Is replacing brushes an easy task?

You first need to remove and disassemble the motor. When the brushes are shot, the commutator usually needs cleaning up. You need to take it to a motor shop for that.

Just pulled the motor. Man does it smell. Seems to be a lot of build up inside, assuming brush material. I'll dig in when we get home...Jim

Was getting hot. Just took it apart at home. Only two of the four brushes move freely. And one of the other two is worn so badly that the wire shorted against the brush holder (?), leaving a nice weld mark and breaking the wire off of the brush. I blew everything out with compressed air and cleaned up the contact point where the brushes touch the (?) big thing inside the case. Ordered new brushes and brush basket earlier today. Will post back when new parts are in. Thanks for the help...Jim

Post some pix of the commutator surface. That's where the brushes run.
