Default Yamaha G1 has no power to the ignition coil

I recently bought a G1 cart. I was told it was running last spring. After setting for a while it wouldn't start. I checked the ignition coil while cranking it and had no power to the coil. Any ideas where to start looking?

is it cranking over good? charge and load test battery.

check both fuses located by the battery / voltage regulator area. Also check wiring coming out of the case from the stator. these wires can rub in that area check that all of these wires are clean and tightly connected.

at the bottom of my post is a link to the G1 service manual

Cranks over fine in both directions, but no fire in either. I will check the fuses though. Thanks!

Make sure all the wires are connected properly coming out to the CDI just behind the two solenoids...isnt power to the coil intermittent ?..

Your cdi is probably bad.

Does the engine size Matter that is listed on the aftermarket cdi? Some are labeled as 50-100cc and some go up to 350cc?

It shouldn't matter. Spark by way of 12v is the same on a cart as it is on a tractor trailer.

I use 80's era Chevy Camaro ignitors on a couple of my older Columbia carts as OEM ignitions from those are no longer available.
