Need Help Picking Out New Motor
I have a 1996 ez go txt series that i want more speed. Lots more speed. I have upgraded the FnR switch, Alltrax 400 amp controler, 2ga wires all the way, 400 amp contactor, and new t-105's. Now i am trying to figure out a motor for it. I use it to play golf and only to play golf. I am always the last one to get there and am trying to fix that. I found a G.E. motor that is 6.1 hp@5330 rpm called the raptor. Any body have any experience with this kind of upgrade. I see most people want torque, i dont need a lot of torque, just speed. Any help would be greatly appericated.

Re: Need Help Picking Out New Motor
I hear the Raptor pulls a lot of amps. In a round of golf it would hurt your run time. I think the Assassin would also drain the batts pretty quick, but I know PQ can put one together that will work for you. I have a EMP motor LR 5.4) that has worked great with my 96' medalist, it has a speed/torque switch. While playing golf I leave it in torque for better run time, I still get 24 mph in that mode (@48v). In transit to and from the course or when I want to show off a little, I switch it to speed mode and it goes 30mph. Although, I'm pleased with my setup for now, I want more speed and I'll be getting a PQ motor in the future.

Re: Need Help Picking Out New Motor
Yeah, keep us posted on the new motor. If you get a chance GPS it, did they say which one you were getting?

Re: Need Help Picking Out New Motor
No, they did not say which one it was. I guess i will know when i get it back. They were real good about asking what i wanted it to do and said they would take care of it. Service does not get any better than that.
I am hoping it shows up tommorrow. If it does i will install it and GPS the speed. |

Re: Need Help Picking Out New Motor
Motor showed up today, got it installed, it looked real good but maybe i was expecting to much. 20 mph is all i am getting. I was hoping for more. I guess it is time to look at changing gear ratio. Any body tried 8:1 or 6:1 gears? If so how much difference in speed? I am not sure what is in it now as this cart came from EZ GO as a 2+2 and i removed the rear seat and set it up for golf. I do know that it has five leafs in the rear springs and it is to ruff of a ride. Dont know if they put lower gears in a 2+2 or not. Any help would be most welcome.
Thanks Michael: |
