97 ds v glide runs half speed
I'm helping a friend try and fix his 97 ds that will only run half speed it's a 48v v glide with the 3 pin connector and small resistors on the back side of it.i can't read the serial num he camouflaged it I can only make out 97. I been searching a few days and the diagram that looks correct is for the 36v. I've checked resistance in a few places but I'm not sure what I should be getting. I unplugged yellow and green wire from pins 2&3 on the controller with the peddle down it read 5.4k ohms slowly lift up on peddle ohms rise 6k 8k 10k and then shows open. Any help on what I should be getting or what and how to check next would be greatly appreciated thanks in advance.

Re: 97 ds v glide runs half speed
. . a few questions . . .
1. Are you sure it is a 97? 2. Are you sure it is a 48v cart? 3. Are you sure it has a V-glide? . . the reason I ask is because I do not believe any 1997 48v cart had a V-Glide . . . the 1997 36v cart did have a V-Glide . . . |

Re: 97 ds v glide runs half speed
Check 95-03 48 volt electric club car wiring diagram - on THIS PAGE.
Sounds suspiciously like a Multi-Step Potentiometer - AKA "V-Glide" shaped device to operate controller. The above referenced wiring diagram should look right - unless the cart has a rocker switch for reverse. If it does, then its most likely a Regen 2 with the multi-step potentiometer. |

Re: 97 ds v glide runs half speed
Thanks for the reply guys the serial num says 97 and it is a 48v v glide.I finally found a trouble shooting guide on shelby control systems site and turns out the half speed reverse micro switch on the f/r switch was bad.

Re: 97 ds v glide runs half speed
. . . interesting . . my IPL for the 97 DS shows both the 48v Powerdrive and Powerdrive Plus carts utilize a Continuously Variable Potentiometer . . .
