ezgo pds 36volt loss of power
I just got a 2001 ezgo pds 36 volt. 6" lift with 23" tires. Once it gets moving on felt grouND it does good. But any hill or slope it can barely make it up them. Some hills it stalls out. And it does not take off very well from a dead stop.
Are my batteries going bad? Do I just need a larger contoller or bigger motor? |

Re: ezgo pds 36volt loss of power
Your going to need to help with a lot more details...
BUT first off 23" tires are going to rob any cart of power and a 36 volt cart even more so. What brand, model number and age are your batteries? That is the first place to start! 2nd are you willing to spend several hundreds of dollars on a larger controller, solenoid & cables after spending several hundreds on new batteries? All 36 volt carts really struggle in the power dept.... |

Re: ezgo pds 36volt loss of power
First thing you need to rule out is a power (battery) problem. No upgrades will help without good batteries. So get yourself a digital battery meter like these here for $18 http://www.cartsunlimited.net/battery-led-meters.html
and tell us what the pack voltage drops to when the cart is slowed to a crawl. |

Sounds to like your solenoid is what they call "welded" when this happens you won't get full battery voltage through the solenoid

Re: ezgo pds 36volt loss of power
Thanks, I'll try what you guys said. But I went ahead and ordered new batteries today. The ones I have are supposedly 2013. From Napa auto parts.

Email ScottyB about converting to 42v and what parts you would need in addition to the extra battery.

Quote:
NAPA makes 2 different size 6-volt batteries # 4144 @ 180 A/H & # 4146 @ 226 A/H thus if you took the cheaper batteries you just sold your cart short 20 % in battery capacity... |

Re: ezgo pds 36volt loss of power
The PDS Ezgo is an easy cart to boost performance on.
The XCT400 control and a 7th 6v battery will get you about 50% more power and speeds above 25mph with the stock motor. |
