Default Did you jump to early and buy junk?

Sorry I meant "Did I jump to early and buy junk?".

So I just purchased what I was told was a 1988 EZ-GO electric cart but I believe it's a 1981. The batteries are new and although it drives it doesn't go very fast. Did I screw up and throw my money in the trash? Can anything be done to this thing to make it fun to drive?

Here is the body. It's in good shape but the mechanical areas I'm concerned about.

It looks nice.... How fast is "it does not go very fast" ??? You can download a GPS app for the smartphone and get a real speed reading... Not knowing anything about your cart I'm going to say it likely goes 8 to no more than 12 miles an hour....

Anything can be upgraded, just takes money . A conversion kit will bring it up to the same standards as a modern series cart.

Teecro I would guess closer to 8mph. I will download an app and find out for sure. Not quite what I was hoping for. Is that normal? Is this a resistor cart?

270handiman So there is hope? How much are we talking? Can I do it myself? Sorry about the 20 questions. I'm just hoping I can make this one work.

I may have answered one of my questions after reading a Sticky thread. My cart has a coil/spring looking deal "resistor" I'm guessing. Can it be changed over to a controller? Thanks for your help.

How much money? Better to sell this one and buy another one? I paid $1200 for this cart. Seemed like a good deal at the time lol.
