07 RXV more speed
What would be best way to attain more speed? Changing gears or controller? This cart seems to be fast already more so than my TXT but the challenge is on at Lake Erie. I dont want to lose I'm up against some already built TXT's that are going 30 some mphs. These are all electric carts. Any help will be appreciated. I have a 07 RXV 48 volt cart.

Re: 07 RXV more speed
Which control system do you have in this? The grey Danaher control or Black Curtis?
Both can have speeds adjusted with a handset, and I understand someone else on here has had success with 25~30 using the dander with larger tires and a handset. For the Curtis you may need to get a freedom mode passkey in addition to a handset. If it were me I would upgrade to the 350A Curtis with freedom and put larger tires on it, the upgraded amperage will help compensate the torque loss. |

Re: 07 RXV more speed
Where is yours set at right now, fleet RXV's come from the factory set at about 14 MPH, but the Danaher controller (assuming yours has not been retrofitted with the Curtis controller) will let you up that to 19.5 mph on original 18.5 inch tires, increasing tire size up to the 21-22 inch range (this may require lifting) will get you up to around 23 mph. I just bought my 2010 RXV last week and had the dealer reset it to the 19.5 mph max limit which is the point where you really have to pay attention, and I am now adding sliightly larger tires (UPS delivered them 15 minutes ago) that should take my top speed up to about 21 mph, I doubt I would want to go any faster than that on an RXV. Remember the RXV has A arm front suspension like a modern car which is nice in many ways, but does produce more body roll when cornering than traditional golf carts which have a more truck like solid front axle.

Re: 07 RXV more speed
an '07 would be a danaher model. if you are hitting 19mph now, it is fully unlocked and sped up. if this is the case, gears would be the next step. 10.5:1 gears for the rxv would get you over 30mph. do not get 8:1 gears, it has too much negative effect on braking (the motor is the brake), and bad effect on torque on any hills. the gears work well on flat terrain, not real good for offroading. bigger tires will get a little speed, but we are talking street type tires. big offroad tires and gears would be a bad combo.

Then two different Danaher diagrams are "6 December 2009 through 23 January 2012" and "Before 5 December 2009" So it looks like there were some very minor changes in 09 then Curtis started in 2012. |

Re: 07 RXV more speed
I am not sure about all of the changes, but in the turn signal or maybe lighting install manual there is reference to units below a certain serial number having a filter capacitor or some such for the braking system that later ones do not have. The serial number cut off was well below the serial number for my 2010 RXV that appears to have been built in late January 2010 based on passed test procedure stickers.

Re: 07 RXV more speed
Do you recognize a controller with ACO motor controller printed on the case?
