Need more speed
Trying to help my neighbor get his fancy cart to go faster than 11 m.p.h.
It’s an 02 club car that’s been worked over. I posted some pics tell me what to look for. I figured some speed magnets but it doesn’t have the wires coming out the end if the motor. |

Need more speed
Considering it has a PQ motor I’d check what controller is in it. 11mph seems awfully slow for that motor. Also what is the pack voltage?

Re: Need more speed
That’s crazy slow for a PQ series motor. Could be controller, cables, or battery pack.

Re: Need more speed
Replace the motor with Admiral A1 and get over 25 mph with those big tires.
Seriously, what controller is in it? And what is the pack voltage when the cart is going as fast as it can go maybe up a mild slope? |

Re: Need more speed
Not sure about anything you guys said. It has new 8 volt batteries in it. Where is the controller located ? what’s it look like ?
I’ve been pulling wrenches on cars my entire life these golf carts are new to me. On a side note I sold my wife’s 48 volt club car and am looking for a gas cart now. What brands should I be looking for ? Which ones to stay away from? Thanks for all the help |

Re: Need more speed more pics added
That's the big 700 amp controller and it looks like an HD solenoid. Should work well with that motor. Some of those crimps look a little questionable but I think that would result in a run/no run scenario, not slow speed.
As others have suggested even though you have new batteries check pack voltage standing and under slight load. |
