Think I found the problem. F/R switch looks like it got a little warm.

Thanks everyone for your help! The offer for beers stands if you’re ever in Augusta, GA!

You did and it is toast, not repairable just replace.

Since you're in Augusta, jump over to Revolution. David Hicks will hook you up.

Hi y'all,

New owner of a 96 DS 48V. I'm having this same issue.

I took it out, everything was working fine, parked it and then I had no forward or reverse for a week or so. After some persistent fiddling with the key and F/R switch, I now have reverse but no forward. Possibly related, my friend (a long time cart owner) sprayed WD-40 on the F/R switch a few weeks before I started having trouble.

I'm new to electric vehicles but I know the basics of circuits on an academic level. I'm getting +/-8V per battery, +50V across the batteries, 50V at the motor in forward and reverse.

What do I test next?

Thanks in advance for your time.

Definitely check your F/R switch. I wasn't able to see the damage to mine until I took it out.

Also, the WD-40 shouldn't have harmed anything.

Thanks for the reply. I didn't think WD-40 would affect anything but I have read mixed things. Were you getting voltage across the switch when in forward?

That's the part that makes me think it's something else. With my black lead to the battery and my red to the positive off the switch, I get 50v in F and reverse but none in neutral. The results are the same when I put the positive lead to the positive on the motor and apply the gas. 50V in F and R and none in neutral.

Guess it's not hard to pull the switch and check...

Thanks again!

Sounds like you got a loose connection. First make sure your F/R switch isn't cooked, mine was.

After I installed the new one I was having the same problem. Turns out I didn't have the nut tight enough on the reverse side.
