Re: 48v DS Wiring
I am assuming that is Ribber's old cart, and with it having a new MCOR, FNR, Cables, Motor, etc. I would try the recommendation by fishbones, but I have a feeling your controller is the issue.... Good Luck!

Re: 48v DS Wiring
AYes it's his old cart, I picked it up today.
I bought it assuming the controller is shot, expecting to replace it and the solenoid. And I'm fine with that, I just like to diagnose and confirm failure of a part before replacing it. The solenoid seems suspect and I haven't checked the resistor on the top, but it looks smoked. And like I said, I will probably just order and replace the solenoid anyway. Maybe that's the problem. Maybe not. But worst case, the stock solenoid wont last for long with the current setup, so it will need to be replaced at some point anyway. Maybe I'll get lucky I'll try playing.with the FNR lever next time it wont go. But I just charged it and it's still working fine. So waiting for it to fail may prove to be the challenge here lol |

Re: 48v DS Wiring
Got back from Texas today, and had 5 min to look at the cart. It clicks and wont move. Solenoid shows 50.5v on both sides of the big lugs, but I'm guessing that's because the resistor is shorted. I ordered a HD solenoid, resistor, etc from scottyb already :) I know it needs a solenoid anyway so it's not exactly money wasted by any means.
Red wire at the controller has no voltage with key on, pedal down, and LED does not come on on the controller. I'm guessing this should show 48+v so I'm thinking theres a wiring problem somewhere between the key and the controller. I'll go try and take a peek at it later tonight and see if I can trace the wiring break down to the key switch or one of the other microswitches. I love chasing gremlins :) |

Re: 48v DS Wiring
If the resistor is burnt out/gone you should have voltage only on one side of the solenoid unless it is stuck.

Re: 48v DS Wiring
Cleaned up a bunch of connections and terminals. Now the LED always works when you press the pedal. It blinks 7 times (club car programming) and then turns on solid. But intermittently still will click and not go. But I drove it around yesterday until the batteries died, and didn't have an issue.
New parts will be here this weekend and early next week, but i've taken it apart now, sanding, cleaning, and going to repaint it to get rid of the spraypaint camo job and make it look good. I think I'm going to go with an indigo blue color. I'll replace the parts to make it run when I put it all back together, and put a digital voltage gauge in the dash. I've got a spare set of good 20" turf tires laying around, but i'll need a couple more 10" wheels. Give it a little beefier upgrade to the stock 18" golf cart tires anyway. He didn't mention it originally was pink LOL so the spraycamo is definitely an improvement to mary kay pink |

Re: 48v DS Wiring
Thanks, me too. At least it will look better while I troubleshoot lol. Got new HD solenoid from scottyb today. Indigo blue turned out to be more of a bright blue... I kinda like it but it's not really what I was expecting. May have to paint again, at least I haven't sprayed any clear yet, so would be easy to change.
To be continued :) |

Re: 48v DS Wiring
You might like that brighter color - roll it out into the sun tomorrow before you redo...
