Re: Rebuild EZ-GO burnt to the ground
Just got home...
The cart in the first pic, the second one is a pic of the burnt house and the last one is me inside that plywood and you can see the hole in both pics 2 & 3. He is sooooo lucky he was awake and drinking coffee in the kitchen. It was about 5:45 am and while drinking coffee he heard a loud explosion very close which had to be the passenger front tire because all of that tire was missing. The fire department said it was caused from leaving the golf cart plugged in. My friend said it was not then they sealed his property and performed an investigation. I suggested looking for the charging port on the cart. When they found it there was no male plug connected. They found the male plug laying on the ground near the edge of the house. |

Re: Rebuild EZ-GO burnt to the ground
That cart got so hot I don't think I could trust that frame or anything on it. Look at the steering column and the wheels turned different ways, all components melted. I would rather rebuild a dozen junk carts than try to save that.
So, the charger was not plugged in. Do they still think the cart started the fire? What a mess! And yes he was lucky! |

Re: Rebuild EZ-GO burnt to the ground
Looking at what remains of the batteries with 3 groups of plates per, it looks like 6 X 6V, so a 36V cart. It should not be too hard to find a frame or parts cart to rebuild. I have one here, but it's a 3 wheeler.

Re: Rebuild EZ-GO burnt to the ground
If it didn’t get hot enough to melt those lead plates... I doubt it got hot enough to hurt the frame but there ain’t no benefit to using that frame... The donor cart will come on a frame

Re: Rebuild EZ-GO burnt to the ground
Good job pointing out that the cart was NOT plugged in.
Sorry to hear about your friends cart and property. Glad that nobody was hurt. That cart is too far gone. The frame will have been weakened too much to attempt to rebuild. That just really sucks. Sent from my SM-G930T using Tapatalk |

Re: Rebuild EZ-GO burnt to the ground
Seriously I hate situations like this. I wish it was closer so I could help.
I did look on Craigslist for that area. Lots of carts out there. Project carts seem to be cheap and plentiful. |

Re: Rebuild EZ-GO burnt to the ground
This place in Phoenix has three 1994 controller carts, running with chargers for $650. Can't buy anything like that around here at that price.
