Default 36 volt powerwise charger going on and off

So Tuesday night after my 9 holes of golf I plugged my 36 volt powerwise charger in to the cart about 9:00 pm. The next day after work about 3:00 pm I went to the shop and noticed it was still charging but was almost done. I was in the shop when I heard it click off, about 5 seconds later it came back on at the same level just above zero. It continues to do this "turn off then back on" but the batteries are fully charged because I checked them with my volt meter. Is something going wrong with my charger or what?

It may be worn parts in the charge receptacle. when it shuts off try taking hold of the handle and moving it either up or down. If there is a position where it will continue to charge you can shove a shim in with the plug to hold it where it's getting solid contact to finish the charge...... it this is what works you need 'rad soks' for the receptacle

"Rad socks"! What's this got to do with my foot wear? Right on Scotty I will move it around and see what happens. This does sound right though because when I plugged it in the first time the charger didn't come on until I removed it and re-inserted it.
By the way I talked to Tuck the other night on the phone about his bumper paint issue and he seems like a real nice guy.

So I replaced the rad socks, both in the receptacle and in the handle and it now doesn't come on at all. I tried wiggling the handle around some and checked all the wires coming to and from both and they look good with no frays. Is there something inside the charger I should check? Just thought I would ask first since I have never taken the cover off a charger.
