Default Pds, txt, ?

I just bought a 2003 Ezgo electric. Dealer said it was a TXT but it has stickers on the side that says PDS.
How can I tell what it is and whats the difference.
Thanks.

They are both in a way, if it says precision drive on the side then most likely its a PDS. You should have fnr switch on the dash and a tow run switch on top the cover below the passenger side. If it just a txt series cart, fnr switch is by your legs and it is connected to a log rod going below the passenger seat with no tow run switch below.

All plastic bodied EZ-Go's are TXT's, gas or electric, except for the RXV line.

Series carts utilize series wound motors and control systems. PDS carts use shunt wound (Sepex) motors and control systems. The PDS carts have regenerative braking to control downhill speeds and unattended runaways. The Series carts will free-wheel downhill and pick up as much speed as the terrain and your nerve will allow.

Modifications and upgrades can be made to either system, but it is usually less costly on the series carts.

In a series cart, F/R is controlled by changed the polarity of the high current flow to the motor via a robust F/R assembly. In a PDS or DCS cart F/R is handled inside the controller and triggered by simple microswitches or a rocker switch.

Which is better? The PDS cart carries a higher price point from the factory. It depends on the intended use of the cart. If it's for neighborhood cruising I like the PDS carts. If it's gonna get lifted with big tires, I would want a series cart with upgrades.

EZGO only uses the Precision Drive System (PDS) on the TXT. So to answer your question, your cart is an EZGO TXT with the precision drive system. PDS is only included on some versions of the TXT, the others are series carts.
