Default Problems with Forward & Reverse Switch

I have a 1993/94 Ez Go Marathon. Was having problems with it keeping a charge so we re-vamped the charger, replaced the charge port on the cart and then had problems with the cart crawling in forward after about 10 minutes of use. However it went FULL speed in reverse!

So now I have replaced the forward/reverse switch. Everything is wired up just as it was, but now the cart won't move at all. Batteries are all new and I am getting power to all of them and to the new switch.

Any help would be much appreicated, it's hard to do daily farm chores without this cart.

Thanks!

Remove the cover from the speed controller and see if you have power in and out of the micro switch at the potentiometer (orange wire coming from the F&R?)

If your charged battery pack is reading 36v they are dead or your charger is not charging correctly.

Okay maybe I have the wrong terminalogy here?? I have a 36volt cart. When you say "battery pack" what exactly are you refering to?

Each one of the batteries is reading 6 volts (except one that is reading 4 volts) from the meter. All batteries are brand new. Charger works on other carts (neighbor has the same cart).

Plus if the charger was bad or batteries were dead why would it go super fast in reverse but crawl in forward?

Thanks

not sure what your problem is but i do know all batteries should read over 6v if they are charged and one reading 4 is just not cool should get like 6.5 on a full chargethe whole pack on mine will read around 39v when charged

oh another thing i wanted to throw out there was the solenoid, might have been going bad getting stuck and now it is completely bad maybe im no expert just trying to give you ideas, maybe try smacking it lightly with a rubber mallet to see it it does anything while you are trying to move, maybe put the back end on jack stands and a brick on the peddle than turn her on and tap the noid. might be a way to jump it to test it and determin if that is the prob, im sure someone will come along and smack me if im wrong or help you figure it out

Thanks all for the help. Turns out it is the solenoid. (At least for now).
