Default switch for winch

This is how I currently use my winch. I would like to have a dash mounted switch to operate it. What switch do I need for this? Anyone know? Thanks for any help.

Your winch is going to pull quite a few amps, especially when lifting or dragging a heavy weight.

Suggest you open the switch box you're now using and see if the switches have an amp rating on them.
(Unless you have a manual for the winch that shows how the control box is wired, you'll have to open it to find out.)

If you know what the stalled amps are for your winch are, use switches that exceed that number.

Hope this helps

Why not just open the yellow case in your existing switch, and see what it would take to mount it inside your dash?

Johnnie, winch is only for emergencies. Thanks for the heads up.

I never thought about mounting the existing buttons inside the dash. I will definitely look into that.

Thanks for the help so far, some good ideas.

I installed one of those winches on a friends cart and used 2" square Velcro on the dash and back of the control to keep it from flopping around but can still pull it out to walk around.
I also came in under the cowl with the wire into the glove compartment area for the control cable.

The portability is important to stay out of line of the cable under load.
