I don't know that you will get much more speed out of it as is. Batts first then any performance mods if you want it to go faster or have more torque. After you get it running like you want it move on to cosmetics - lift, wheels/ tires, paint and other accessories

It should be 48v already with the IQ system so no need to upgrade controller and solenoid unless you want more speed/ torque

Thanks Sunoco. I do want a little more speed. I read that the Pathways came out of the cc factory doing 23mph, but when they were shipped to CA to the Pathway factory, they changed something that reduced them to 19mph. I have a serious hill to climb in my neighborhood so I want to maximize the uphill speed - especially if I have a couple extra passengers. I am confused however about the controller and solenoid. Is there a relationship with larger tires that I will need to be aware of when deciding on the right controller/solenoid to install? Thanks again...

Putting larger tires is like putting new gears in the differential. You will gain some top speed and lose some torque. The extra power needed to turn the larger/heavier wheels and tires can cause stress on the stock components. It can heat up and go into a thermal shut down situation or can burn it up all together. This is why you upgrade the controller, solenoid and cables.

No matter what, make sure the cart is mechanically sound. Since you're already replacing the batteries you should update your cables. 4 gauge or larger. Make sure your charging system is working properly once the batteries and cables are replaced. As long as that is all good, try it out and see if you still need other mods for speed/torque. IQ carts have some type of "speed programming" I believe that you can do without replacing the motor or controller. Search the forum for that info though.

I'm pretty sure the pathway is factory set to speed code 4. Maybe Tahoedawg can confirm?

Many thanks for all the replies and help. I will search for Tahoedawg and ask about speed code 4. I am not familiar yet with speed codes, so will be interesting in learning about this too. Thanks all....
