Default Yamaha controller heat solutions?

I have recently upgraded my yamaha G22 moric controller to a FSIP FX503 controller and upgraded solenoid. I was creeping around my pasture fence line and I heard a high pitch whine coming from the rear of my cart in the controller/solenoid area when I barely mashed the go pedal. I then realized that the controller was extremely hot. I called FSIP and they have excellent tech support and the guy informed me that by creeping around at slow speeds my controller wasn't getting enough air to cool it. I'm wondering if you guys have ever had a heat issue with a controller and how you remedied the issue. I'm thinking a heat sink panel on the controller itself and some weather resistant pancake fans as well. Any body done anything similar?

The problem you describe is exactaly why i avoid that "FX" line of controllers. I added a large sheet of aluminum behind the controller, but it wasnt enough. I had that controller as a upgrade option (which from 2007 till recent XCT release, nothing else was available for YDRE). I put one on a Drive, took it off within a week. Never found a heatsink solution i liked for that controller. I am in the desert, so ambient temps are also not on my side.

Not real good to hear but maybe I can come up with something. I have a heat sink plate im ordering tomorrow along with 2 weatherproof high output pancake fans. I'll see how they work and post pics. I would have loved the XCT but I ordered this one about a week before the release of it. Bad luck in my part but I will do what I can to make it work. Scotty B and the techs from FSIP have been excellent in trying to get me going in the right direction
