Digital volt meter
I just picked up a G16E (36volts) that was used on a construction site. I converted the onboard charger to a portable one by putting a receptacle plug on the end of the wiring. One of the batteries is new (Interstate) but the others look old.
It seems to run ok but the range seems to be limited. I installed a digital volt meter on the dash. After charging, it shows 38 volts total. Individually the batteries read about 6.2 except for the new one that reads 6.4. Under use (load), the voltage reading can go down to the mid 20s. Is this normal? |

Re: Digital volt meter
You are probably right. But after I let up, the voltage goes back up to 37.9.
What should the volt meter read under load? |

Re: Digital volt meter
Do this, attach a handled meter to battery #1 and put a load on it (up hill), write the lowest Reading down and move the meter to battery #2 and repeat... when you have readings for each of the batteries before this test and under load - post it here and we see

Re: Digital volt meter
Sounds like your batteries are pretty tired if they are dropping to 20V under load. That is what starts to happen when your batteries are at the end of their useful life.

Re: Digital volt meter
It appears the pack is done for But it could be one or 2 really weaker than the rest...... replacing one or 2 with good USED batteries may extend their life to the end of the season , depending upon the users needs.

Re: Digital volt meter
ahh nothin like a fresh new set of batteries. at work we have one of those club car 36/48 volt discharge machines. If the pack were testing goes longer than 80-85 minutes we o.k. them...its a nice machine to have around
