Are my batteries bad?
Trojan t-875 with a stamp of D2. The cart is a 2012 Yamaha Drive.
I definitely have a bad cell in one but some of the SGs are all over the place. I've read about equalizing them but my Yamaha charger doesn't have a way to do that. Unplugging the charger and starting a new cycle after a full charge does nothing. Here are my numbers: Volts SG 8.49v 1260 1280 1280 1275 8.48v 1225 1270 1250 1255 8.45v 1260 1265 1175 1255 8.44v 1275 1275 1275 1275 8.41v 1265 1260 1260 1240 8.54v 1280 1290 1290 1280 Total Voltage after charge: 50.9v |

What's total voltage after charge and letting sit for 12 hrs?

Re: Are my batteries bad?
You should try to measure voltages under load. The ones you have there should not prevent it from running.

Re: Are my batteries bad?
I agree completely, measure them with a load tester because for the year of those batteries they are pretty good still. You can even measure the pack voltage drop with your meter while driving and see what it shows but it does not seem like they are bad at the moment

Re: Are my batteries bad?
The cart runs ok, just getting slower after driving for a while.
When checking the batteries, I decided to check the specific gravity while I was at it. The one cell at 1.175 concerned me. I don't have a load tester but I do have a digital meter on all the time. When driving around and going up a 12-14% grade, the pack voltage will drop down to 43-44v. |

Re: Are my batteries bad?
Those batteries seem to be doing as well as could be expected from 5 year old batteries. I think you should keep doing what you are doing until you are no longer satisfied with them, then replace them. Seems whatever you are doing is working OK. 5 years is a good life for batteries around here (also seems to be a pattern seen elsewhere).

Re: Are my batteries bad?
I experienced the same problem when I upgraded to a 500 amp controller and 9hp motor. When I went up the driveway, a 12-14% grade...it almost stopped it. MAYBE 1mph. Checked the voltage on flat ground running and it dropped to 41v. When I hit the hill, it dropped down to 38v. 5 year old US batteries. They worked awesome when I had the stock controller. Not so much anymore with the greater draw. Keep that in mind if you upgrade your cart. Now I have some Trojan T-890 on the way!!!!! It seems like running around on the flat is no problem but if you add a load or need torque.....not so good.
