Default Need Govenor Assistance or Guidance

I haven't been to successful in get anyone to respond to my questions about repairing a 1991 Marathon 2 cycle rear-end.

1. I believe the governor fork is broken.
2. How do I change this or remove the governor shaft it's self to see what the problems is.
3. When I look at the rear-end, it appears the shaft can be removed from the top and possibly without removing third member or axles.
4. When looking down the bushing hole I can see a thrush bearing on the upper shaft where the governor yoke or fork goes around the shaft, the parts book doesn't even show what this bearing is.
5. What is best way to remove this shaft and replace governor fork?
6. I have service manual but it is of little help.

I know this thread is old but I just did an axle tear down on my 91 to replace the input shaft bearing. The fork you are referring to drops out of the bottom and the carrier and intermediate shaft must be removed first. Intermediate shaft is a booger. I broke my governor removing the input shaft so be careful. I can upload some pics later if that will help and I may have a governor fork I could send you depending on how this works out for me. Hope this helps.
