Default EZ Go gas engine stops running after coasting

Our EZ Go gas golf cart just stops running when we coast forward or backward. It runs greats, then we take our foot off the gas peddle, coast down a hill, the engine cuts off and when we hit the gas peddle nothing happens. The peddle goes to the floor and the engine does not start. We have to push / roll the cart to get it started.

Thanks

4 stroke engine, Kawasaki engine just enstalled Aug '16.

Does it start on it's own ever like first time of the day then no longer starts after it is running a bit? Or does it not start on it's own at all? What year and model is the cart?

Thanks for the reply.

The "starter generator" is going bad. It is a 2011 Advance Starter Generator.
When I tap on the starter generator it starts. It does start sometimes after on its own.....

Any idea how hard it is to change out the starter generator? I see the part on-line for $294.

Could just be the brushes. I just rebuilt mine with new bearings and brushes for just under $100. Before you do that take the brush covers off and make sure the brushes can move freely. When I rebuilt mine one of the brush wires got caught in the cover and wouldn't let it move freely. Pulled cover, put it back on and good to go.

I will also agree brushes are probably the culprit.
