Removing a Leaf from HD Spring
My cart came with HD springs (4 leaf) and rides really rough. I want to remove a leaf or possibly two from the existing springs to soften the ride. Is it possible to remove them from these springs or do I have to buy new ones? I will probably end up buying a dual-action spring, but I'd still like to remove one from these to see how it will effect the ride. Just wanted to get some advice before I go and take my springs off not knowing what I'm doing!

Re: Removing a Leaf from HD Spring
Multi springs should have a center bolt holding them together. If so place a c-clamp close to the center bolt and compress. Remove the center bolt and release the clamp. Now you can remove the spring. Easy way to re install center bolt is to use a punch inserted in the holes until centered and compress.

Alright, Thanks for the info! I believe there is a bolt in the center, but also there are some flat head screw looking things on the ends of each leaf, do i need to try to remove those as well?

No they stay attached to the spring.

Re: Removing a Leaf from HD Spring
Alright, I'm going to attempt remove the leaf tomorrow. I took off my tire tonight and had a look real quick and it looks like the center 'bolt' isn't a bolt. The top is definitely rounded. The bottom sort of looks like a nut, but it looks pretty rounded as well. Is this the way it should be? I've attached pics of the top, and my best attempt at getting a pic of the bottom.

Re: Removing a Leaf from HD Spring
That would be correct. To make a new center bolt all you need is a bolt the size needed and grind the head to fit the hole in the spring plate.

Re: Removing a Leaf from HD Spring
So if I remove the leaf, I'm going to have to grind down and drill out the existing stud and put a bolt through it? If there is a nut on the bottom, I can't just put that back on?

Sure you only need to replace it if you can't remove it.
