If you do a search for Zone/Star cart, you'll find many threads complaining of not being able to repair problems or finding a dealer who can repair the problem due to part sourcing. Some of these carts used mixed parts.

Stick with one of the big 3 even if you do plan on keeping it stock (which I doubt if you stay on here very long ).

Right now I have 1 Yamaha, 2 Ezgo, and 1 Star they are all nice. The Yamaha rides the best it has a independent front suspension. Ezgo has the most accessories available. And the Star is the best equipped, when I first got the Star dealers were few and far between but now I have 5 in 50 miles of here. I would not hesitate to buy another one.

Since I'm NOT buying a Zone cart, can I get recommendations on what my best alternatives would be otherwise?

Find yourself a good club car. The Aluminum frame is a big plus if your using it on the beach. Its a tried and true cart, easy to fix, easy to get parts.

Do it right, cry once

Going to look at a Club Car this week. If it isn't sold. It's a 2015. What should I look for other than age/condition of batteries?

Wrong!

They also have a factory at Kakegawa, Shizuoka in Japan where they built different models than in USA.
