Re: 1.75" leaf springs
It's possible this cart might have given a donor spring. Anyone know what it is? The pic is from my files. This was my Citi before the previous owner Wayne did it's first restore. Or it's a picture of a golf cart next to a citicar for fun. It would also seem about 20" would make my shackle vertical so it would have to be greater than that eye to eye |

Re: 1.75" leaf springs
Thanks. Us 1011 minus 2 leaves might be just right.

Re: 1.75" leaf springs
This is not the right leaf spring, but it's going to work. It's a 23" spring, apparently common more than 20 years ago. This one may have been on the shelf that long, but... It was cheap and available so I'll make it work. I called Eaton Detroit, their quote ended up being 220 per spring. I like them but not that much. Wish me luck. I'm going to bust some knuckles tonight. |

Re: 1.75" leaf springs

Re: 1.75" leaf springs
Really. They wanted $220 per spring!
I said no way and got a trailer spring set. $80 for 2. I am just finished with the spring project. I'm dirty and tired. Rides nice, stiffer but nice. And no fear of it cracking loose at 35mph. I'm up about 1" from where I started which should be really close to stock height. In back at least. Done in time for dream cruise. |

Re: 1.75" leaf springs
$220 each,Thats insane!! Trailer springs range from $18-$80 each, most utility trailer springs are under $40 each. They either dont want to deal with them,or enjoy ripping people off.

Quote:
I still think the springs came off something common way back when, maybe I'll figure it out. A car is a possibility too, but I suspect cart still. Probably very uncommon now though. You can see it's a little stanced now since the fronts are original still. My shackles used to almost touch the bumper just sitting. Now all good. |
