Default Starter Adjustment - Cannot tighten

Hey Everyone.

1996 Tuff 1, but using the 295 engine. I need to tighten the starter belt, but the starter itself wont budge. I loosened the 3/4" nut, but it seems like its still fixed in place. Any tips for getting it to move? Im hesitant to do much hitting with a hammer for fear of messing things up internally...

Any of them I have seen has three places to loosen, make sure you have everything loose

I know there is the adjustment rod/bolt, and then what looks like a big through bolt with a 3/4" nut on it. I actually have the adjustment rod off right now because it wouldnt adjust (need to chase the threads on it), and the nut on the end of the bolt is loose.

Any idea where the third point is? or if its just that bolt and I should put a bigger wrench on it?

Some have a bolt that goes all the way through. Others have a bolt on each side. Try loosening the bolt head you have left.

Mine has two bolts with nuts and the adjustment bolt. I would think if you had the long bolt loose and the adjustment bolt loose it should move

Thanks Guys.

Ill give a good wrenching on the bolt head thats left... Most things seem to be well rusted on my cart, so this isnt proving to be an exception.

In the event I need to do some prying, any good spot to lever a pry bar in there, or a surface on the starter I can use that wont break something?

Got it done finally.

It was a through bolt, and was just seized in place. I had to use a big pry bar after putting Kroil all over everywhere, and finally got it to move enough that the belt tensioned. hooray!
