I’ve only had one rebored. Oil rings are normally the problem. When I rebuild an engine I will take the head off and see what the bore is and order the parts for what the bore is. Very simple. Take pictures and we. An help you through it. Everyone here is good help. I always lean back on Smallblock when I need help with things the most and I trust all these guys with everything.

I have two of them that run fine and burn oil. I was always going to ring or rebuild and sell them. The bearings can be a different size so that can complicate a full rebuild. If you want full performance you need to bore it and new piston because after all this time it may run ok on new rings but it will have wear. Or you can put a clone in it and have a lot more power even with a stock 420 clone. But you have a larger project and have to iron out things like the exhaust system. You will end up with a new engine though, and they work best with the stock starter gen system and clutch. I did one for about 400 total it was much cheaper than a rebuild, however I was able to make my own mount and other parts and not buy much, and it took a long time. Now you can buy the mount and other parts and its much faster project. If you do the stock engine you know what you have, so its all on what you want the cart to be. If you want a stock cart reliable, I'd probably tell you to shop for a newer one and sell that one.

Oh my goodness! Just installed the Plowmans performance kit - both cluthes, exhaust and re-jetted the carb and did the legendary online tune...except I was in a different time zone (16 hours ahead) and on a island off the cost of New Zealand when we video called Don. Night and day - I swear it’s a different cart! The guy is a buggy whisperer no doubt. Thanks to those who recommended it!
