Default G22 exhaust noise.

Greetings experience sharers!
I know this is a common issue based on numerous threads I’ve read on these pages. My G22 has a stainless heat shield mounted to the muffler. Has anyone ever tried packing the space in between with hi temp muffler packing to try and reduce the noise from the exhaust? Any thoughts as to pros and cons?
Thanks!

Do NOT do that! That gap is the air outlet for the air that cools your engine. Engine will be destroyed pretty quickly. That outlet air also serves to blow some of the exhaust heat out of the engine compartment.

CG- this is why I ask these kinds of questions on this forum first instead of just bulling on headlong into destruction. CPPMan, I did check the shield for looseness and vibration and its tight. I guess underseat. and body insulation is my option. Thanks guys.
