Issues after rebuild
Hey. Fisrt ever rebuild on any motor for me. Got a top end kit and seals. Put it all in and the cart didnt seem to want to move. Did a compression test and it shows around 80, i felt it should be higher so i pulled to top end again and checked my rings to make sure everything was seated properly. All seemed well so I reassembled. I now have enough power to move the cart down the road but I feel I dont have the speed I used to before the piston went, gettin 8 mph on the gps. Will this power come back as it breaks in or should I already have full speed? Could it be a timing issue. Also after second reassembly the compression isnt much better.....

Re: Issues after rebuild
80 sounds really low. What cart are you working on?

Re: Issues after rebuild
It could be a "low compression model". Those carts have been around so long that engines could have been swapped out several times. I've seen G1's with non matching engines, heck I've even swapped a couple.
Only way to tell is to look at the castings on the engine block for identification. That'll tell us what year it is, but it still could have miss matched parts, head, carb, etc.. |

Re: Issues after rebuild
If you used Plowman's parts, I'd give him a call. He's usually very helpful over the phone and can likely solve your issue. It could be a clutch issue as well if it's just not reaching a good speed.

Re: Issues after rebuild
Does it rev up like a 2 stroke?
Is muffler clogged? Is carb opening all the way? |
