Engine backfires when stopping

I have a 2015 Yamaha G22. The engine would backfire when coming to a stop. It runs fine when going down the road. I changed the carb thinking that was it but it still does it. Any help on this would be great.

Only does it after it's run for a while and the engine & exhaust are hot, right? The throttle butterfly in the carb is probably not closing all the way at rest. As the engine is spinning down to a stop, the spark is shut off. If the carb throat is still open, it's still drawing air & fuel into the engine but NOT burning it. The raw mix gets pushed into the hot exhaust and BOOM! Could be and idle set screw on the carb that's holding it part way open - if so back it off (or remove it). Could be the accelerator or governor cable set too tight or has too much drag through the housing and hanging it up.

Yep, and if you replaced the OEM carb with a $13 china copy, put the original back on.

OEM = Mikuni. China = Mokini

Yeah I noticed that too, but if it's got a carburetor it's the same engine - older G22 or carbureted G29.

I have a G16 2002, Brand new coil, new carb Cleaned and new fuel filter and lines, it’s spitting out fuel faster then we can take a leak out the fuel pump, it’s gettin to spark and fuel ,

But it runs And then it will just seem like it runs out of gas, then you try to give it gas on the pedal and it bogs down pops it tries to go but it just won’t, sounds like it’s running out of gas or someone turn the key off. Help please
