Re: lifted gas club car
I hate to butt in... you guys seem to be having quite the conversation!!!
I, too, had "Squirly" steering when I first "sped up" my cart when it was new, so I opened my manual, and checked... the camber, and toe were out from the factory, I readjusted it per the manual, and it made a huge difference! I had to do it again, once I put my Jake's 3" spindles on... and also with my buddies SS lift... From my manual: Note: With a lift, don't worry about the the eccentric, It isn't there anymore! but, adjusting the camber with a carpenters square is a must!!! |

Re: lifted gas club car
ok so the front tires need to be tilted out at the top and in at the bottom? Mine is the oposite. Is that what I need to change?

Re: lifted gas club car
Yep!
Readjust your camber with an 1/8" to 1/4" gap at the bottom of the square and tire, (cart empty) And check the toe-in again after the camber readjustment! I hope, and expect that it'll work for you! |

Re: lifted gas club car
I've got alot of stuff to do today...
The short and sweet of it... the bottom nuts and rods of your lift.. loosen the nuts, and tighten the rods IN on your lift, That should bring the top of your tires out! I'll check back in the a.m.! |

Re: lifted gas club car
hey tucks, wife broke the camerera last night at a shindig with freinds. know i have to figure how to get you the info. but i think your on your way. like i said with the rod that connects the right and left wheel, lossen the jam nuts, turn the rod in either diection till the rear of the wheel is 1/8th of a ing further, or wider then the front on the tire. do this at the center of the wheel, in the center of the tread. get this lock t down. easist way to set toe.

Re: lifted gas club car
ok ckiguy I can get that ok. I just have to measure the center of the tire to measure off of. I was trying to measure the rim and it wasnt working right. I think I can get it now. Im going to try to set the camber like lockman suggests. I thought the top of the tire should lean in but I guess I was wrong. Ill adjust the camber struts so that the top of both tires lean out just a bit. and then Ill reajust the toe in just as you told me. Then I should be good to go. I really appreciate all you guys help. Im pretty mechanicly inclined but I just didnt know about this. Thanks guys.

Re: lifted gas club car
its pretty smple tucks, like i said youa re measuring the wheel diam. to find the center for the place to measure, so you know where to measure at the same spot in the front of the tire and the rear. you scribe the paint in the center of the tread, so you know where to measure the same place on the front and the rear of the tire. if you jack it up and spin the tire, you will usally find or see the center line sometime casted in the tire, like a thin peice of skin form the molding of the tires, or where the 2 halfs of the mold met. and make sure your helper/buddy knwo where you want him or her to hold the tab or eac side, and that the same person reads and does the measuring. or that the same person holds the dumb end and the same person gets the smart end.
