48v PowerDrive (not regen) has very Low Power
All batteries charged, tested individually and together (total 51V), when pressing the pedal, the selenoid (single) clicks and the elec motor rumbles / shakes but will not move the cart. It acts as though the batteries are dead even though they are not. On a jack with the wheels elevated, they will spin but slowly. Battery voltage drop into the 30's with the pedal all the way down. I have tried to check voltage at the drive motor but I am not sure what /where it should read. The only reading I could get was 8v ?

Re: 48v PowerDrive (not regen) has very Low Power
You are dropping 20v when you press the gas.....4v would be normal. 2 or more of your batteries are bad under load... go ahead and meter them individually when you try to go...

Load test your batteries, sounds like one or more dead cells. My 95 did this till I got new batteries.

yes they may read good voltage but as mentioned above you have one or more crapping out under a load......load test all of them you,ll find them....................

Re: 48v PowerDrive (not regen) has very Low Power
You can connect a 12v load tester to any 2 batteries in series. But likely you will burn the load tester up trying to draw down a good pr of golf cart battery ... just too much amperage in reserve...
You could try it for 10 seconds or such and see if any of the 3 pr fail miserably but this is a really simple test for a DVM placed on one battery at a time and the cart motor is the load... see? |

Putting it on one battery is too much? Do they make a tester for 8V??

Re: 48v PowerDrive (not regen) has very Low Power
no not yet although if you look on some 12 volt testers they have an 8 volt range........as scotty said real simple with a voltage meter...just sucure to 1 batttery at a time and hit pedal watch what reading drops to.....................

Re: 48v PowerDrive (not regen) has very Low Power
I too am having this same problem, so I had taken my meter and taken 6 readings. 4 batteries gave readings under load at 5v, one at 2v, and the other dropped to a neg 2v. Is this a indication that two batteries are bad?

Re: 48v PowerDrive (not regen) has very Low Power
Keithball, I am not sure about your problem but I am embarrased to say my issue turned out to simply be low water in batts. All tested fine and appeared fully charged . All were low, a couple almost dry :-( I filled with water and I had plenty of power.
I am an idiot, wasted hours and it was one of the first things I should have checked. Ughh |
