99 Club Car charger won't shut off
I have a 1999 Club Car that gets used 3 to 4 times a week on an 18 hole golf course. For some time now, the charger won't always shut off. I thought at one time it was because the batteries were old, so I installed new ones. Was OK for awhile, then started again. The charger sticks at about 7 to 10 amps and just boils the batteries. I have been using a timer to make sure this does not continue, however I would rather it work correctly. Anyone have any ideas?

Assuming the charger is ok, the next step would be to consider an OBC issue . . .

Re: 99 Club Car charger won't shut off
Welcome to BGW!
The first thing to check would be the batteries, one bad battery will keep the charger running. Can you try the charger on another cart? Or try a different charger on your cart? |

Will a bad battery allow the charger to run past the 16 hour limit ??

I don't think so, I think the obc is suppose to time and shut off at 16 hours regardless? We may need a CC tech from Atlanta to verify...

Oh ok wasn't sure thought i was going to learn something new. A really bad battery could cause havoc on a micro processor program

If David sees this thread we may get a definitive answer. I believe time out is time out. I have seen a charger get stuck in stage 2 and never finish cycling... due to a bad battery

Re: 99 Club Car charger won't shut off
With your charger plugged in to your cart turn on your key and see if your cart will move when you press the accelerator pedal. The OBC is NOT suppose to let it move in this situation. Lets us know what happens. A charger not shutting off after 16 hrs could be a defective OBC. If your cart moves with the charger plugged in and your charger does not cut off after 16 hours it points to the OBC. Just saying
