Default yamha 48v charger trouble

the charger for 2004 48v cart does not work any ideas for trouble shooting diagnosis

Do you have a "Yamaha/Mac" charger (large and silver with a series of lites on the left hand side)? or a "DPI" charger?

the lites do not come on when plugged into cart nor do they lite up when it is unplugged from electric outlet and plugged back in

The Mac charger needs a few things to work. First, you must have AC power (have you checked the outlet?), Second, the battery set must have at least 44 volts for the charger to even "think" its plugged into anything (can you do a voltage test on the battery set?) Third, check the dc cord end for damaged contacts/burbt wires and the female dc receptical on the car for damage and the dc receptical leads to the batteries. Let us know and we can try some tests on the charger itself.
