advice bout buying 06 yamaha g2
looking to buy a cart to fix up. would the electric Yamaha 2006 g22 be a good cart to work with? Would I be able to add bigger controller and tires to get over 20mph? its got a 48volt setup. Is it as easy to buy lifts and accessories as it is ezgo's? Are the parts higher in price or similar? I have a choice between this cart witch is in real good shape with 1 1/2year battery andhas all the lights including blinkers and horn for 2200.00 or a 09pdsthats just a basic cart with 2 year old batteries 2000.00. which cart is a better starting point for someone who is gonna drive 80% on streets and wants to go 20plus mph? heeeelp!!

Re: advice bout buying 06 yamaha g2
G22 is one of the finest available (my favorite electric cart of any). Very good suspension/frame. Easy controller upgrade. Get a alltrax dcx 400 controller and 4ga cables and you will be over 21mph with no other upgrades. The solenoid is beefy enough for the job in un-lifted, street tires configuration. Lift and accesories are plentiful. If you plan on going crazy with electric lifted offroad performance in the future, a "series motor" cart would be a better starting point in my opinion. If you want mild offroad use, mostly on road use a G22 with a alltrax controller is hard to beat.

HELLO AGAIN, You say the G22 has very good suspension. If I lift it a bit and get bigger tires, will that effect the suspension in a negative way?

Re: advice bout buying 06 yamaha g2
The biggest question on late model G22-e's is it a GE or Moric controller? The G22-e up to Ju2-20230-GE, JU2-202131 after-Moric. The GE can handle alot and is rebuildable, the Moric has a pathetic amp rating and would need to be changed out. Just depends on what you have. Good luck on your build

Re: advice bout buying 06 yamaha g2
ok, I planned on changing to a alltrax dcx 400amp controller the minute I got the cart. With that said....does it matter if the cart comes with the GE or Moric controller? is their other parts that I should consider if it has an existing Moric controller or will the new controller I mentioned make it as good as a cart that had a GE existing controller?

Re: advice bout buying 06 yamaha g2
A alltrax is a upgrade to a moric or ge cart. If it is a moric, one cable will need to be cut and replaced (remove negative cable "B-" from controller to motor, replace with new cable "M-" to motor). Alltrax does not sell a kit specificlly for G22, but G19 kit is easier to put in G22 than it is to put in a G19 (red wire mod required on G19, not needed on G22). You will need to get a resistor and diode not included in kit (less than $20, nivel part numbers 409 and 411). Jakes spindle lift kit is good, does not negatively affect original suspension design any more than any lift would due to higher center of gravity. Yamaha actually used Jakes lift kits from the factory on G28 umax.
