Default Bad battery meter?

I installed one of those LED battery meters on my 2009 Yami. After I charge up the batteries, the LED will not go back to "full charge" unless I disconnect the + or - wire and then reattach.

Is this a bad meter? or something else?

Thanks

as i understand the bar digital meters they need to be reset each charge
from meter install booklet

Remember that + and - must always be connected. .....

NOTE: For the meter to be reset to full, it is necessary that the meter sees the charging voltage If you have your meter hooked up only from a switched source for both the + and "C" terminal, you must switch this on during the recharge cycle for less than 1 second to reset the meter.
