Default What to look for in a CL gasser

Looking at a craigslist bargain tomorrow. Appears to be a ds gasser from the 90's. What should I be on the lookout for. I know a little about sparkys but 0 about gassers.

What year? 1991 and older will have the older Kawasaki KF82 flathead motor, which is an 8hp motor. They're great little motors but a bit harder to find parts for. 1992 and newer gas CCs have the Kawasaki FE290 motors, which are still used in the Club Cars. It's a 9hp motor.

I'm partial to the KF82s solely because I'm familiar with them, but the FE290 is a great motor as well, and probably a better value due to the higher horsepower and also the easier parts availability.

Looks to be 1993+ due to the steering wheel, cup holders, and rear body

Yep, it's at least a '93 judging by the body and the steering wheel. No newer than 2000 due to the seat style. $150? Go buy it now. I'd be all over that. Gas CCs around here even with blown motors easily sell for $300. I could turn that thing around and make a relatively small fortune. Don't tell anyone here where you are or they're likely to get it before you do!

To see what year it is, look at the serial number plate up at the top of the floorboard under the passenger side glove compartment. It should read "AGxxxx". The first two digits after the "AG" are the model year. Mines an '87, so the serial begins "AG87xxxx..."

She's a 97 and is pretty rough. Engine compartment looks pretty good though.

So, you bought it? Does it actually run and drive?

So did you get it? If not I want to know where it is! If that went up on craigslist around here for that price, it would have been sold before the confirmation email for the ad came in.
