Input shaft seal replacement on a 2005 350cc
Until I track down a good service manual I'll just have to revert to the search function and then asking if you all have any experience with it.
The seal behind the clutch is leaking. Any buddy have advice on replacement? |

Not really any advice, i'd just reaplace that seal and make sure the shaft isn't wobbling around. is it leaking bad? maybe you have to much fluid in it.
Those rears are made by dana, maybe you can find more info on it from them. http://www.dana.com/offhighway_syste...t/OPE-2004.pdf |

Thanks alot. I thought about the possibility of it having too much fluid. I'll pull the plug today to see.
Ignorant question, but it do you remove the clutch, and then place the new seal down the shaft without removing it or do you leave the clutch on and pull the shaft and clutch as one? Thanks for the link! |

I would take the clutch off, the seal should go over the shaft. there's a It's full hole with a bolt in it on the pass. side of the case, Do not fill it all the way up to the filling hole.

Re: Input shaft seal replacement on a 2005 350cc
Jon, The driven clutch came off with little effort. Any tips on removing the seal? I've never attempted to remove a seal with the shaft intact. I found one reference to driving a screw into the seal to connect to a puller. Is this the preferred method?
Thanks again, Mike |

Also before installing the new seal, cover the splines on the input shaft with tape.. This will keep the sharp edges of the splines from nicking the lip of the new seal.. |
