1974 E-Z-Go questions

Hi everyone I recently purchased my first cart a few weeks ago. A 1974 E-Z-Go Three Wheeler. I think it’s super cool but it only ran for a couple days before it quit while going up a short grade into my camp site. I’ve worked on all types of gas engines thru the years this is my first go at anything electric. It’s has a GE motor and I believe all original components. I tore everything down and cleaned it all. The amount of dirt/grease on all the electronic parts was amazing. Anyway I found the S2 lead burnt off inside the motor. As I tore down the motor some posts and plastic insulators also broke. I soldered the lead back together and got it and reassembled using what I had around the garage. I cleaned up the micro switches and got them working and wired everything up back to original. It seems to be running good now but that burnt off lead is still concerning to me. Anyone have any idea what would cause that much heat? My intention is to replace the brushes and posts with correct insulators over the winter. Where is the best place to find the replacement parts? I’m going to change tires and differential oil this weekend I plan on using Lucas synthetic 75/90 is that the correct oil to use? And lastly anyone who can point me to any manuals for a 1974 three wheeler would be greatly appreciated.

In my experience heat is always caused by a bad or loose connection , also heavy loads or slow speeds draw more amps which in turn caused more heat so any connection that is suspect will be exposed

Ok thanks When I pulled the motor apart I found a pressed on ring terminal sitting loose between the bolt head and a round insulating washer. I replaced the bolt and tightened down a nut behind the head and connector hoping that would help stop any more heat.
