Black Wire from Solenoid to Controller
I have this small black wire from the small post on the solenoid to the B- on the controller.
If I hook my DVM up to the positive post and touch this wire with the negative, I get 38V. This number doesn't move with the pedal being pressed. Is it suppose to change, or is it suppose to be 38V? My cart doesn't move in any direction, and the solenoid clicks with pedal press. |

Re: Black Wire from Solenoid to Controller
Looks like you have a Marathon with a controller. Schematic attached.
Sounds like you are measuring from B+ to B-, so the pedal would have no effect on it. Unless otherwise stipulated, all voltage measurements are made with the negative (black) test lead attached to the battery pack's main negative terminal (B-) ------------- If the solenoid is clicking, the problem is in the high current circuit (heavy cables). Measure between the controller's B- and M- terminals. You should get full battery pack voltage when pedal is pushed just far enough to make solenoid click. If so, slowly push pedal to floor and the voltage should smoothly decrease to zero volts. If not, the is an open someplace in the high current circuit. The F/R contacts are the most likely suspects. (Also attached schematic with high current circuit highlighted. |
