Default 2017 Speed Code problem

Just received my 2017 precedent a few weeks ago. Quickly realized the 14mph was not gonna cut it for me. The guy I purchased it from said he could update it with a speed code for $300. My serial # JE 1721 -xx

From what I've read so far, updating the speed code won't work with a JE serial # is that correct? I need a controller upgrade like an Alltrax 500e.

A separate question. This cart had a GPS unit installed with a USB port by the battery light, USB does not work. Is there a wiring diagram available for this type of installation?

Thanks in advance

As long as it has the white Curtis Controller 1515-5206 you can upgrade controller. Dealer will do this upgrade for about $150.

UBS not working may be fuse is bad you will have to trace wire to find out why. Make sure you put in Tow position and disconnect Neg from battery before doing any electrical work.

Another suggestion is go with a new Alltrax XTC400IQ Controller for your cart. It will only cost about $162 dollars more than that $300 dollars the guy said he would charge. This will allow even a little more speed than the mode 4 upgrade.

Thanks Bobbob,

Just to clarify, if I buy that controller, I won't need that speed code programming? I'll be at 20mph+. Plan to break the cart down this weekend. Thanks

No you can download the software than use a usb cable along with a pc to program what speed or performance you want. This is free software provided by Alltrax.

The Alltrax will give you
460 amp peak output. OEM plug in without adapter. This will
Increase torque and speed up to 22-23 mph using the stock motor and standard tires.

A lot of people also go to lower gage battery cable from 6 Ga to 2 Ga for increased performance. Also a taller tire from 18 up to 24 inches for more speed. Anything over about 19 inches you need a lift kit.

You can also go with a new high speed motor.

It’s really up to how much money you want to spend.

I would highly recommend you buy from one of our site sponsors. They will stand behind the products they sell and answer any questions you may have. Read through the forums on club car you can learn a ton of information.

My '16 came from a CC dealer and it does 27mph. Did the dealer reprogram the computer to do this? He said he usually sets them at 19 mph when he sells them new. The motor is black and appears stock.
