Please educate me on motor centering bearing
Can someone please explain to me exactly what a motor centering bearing is and where it goes. I see alot of threads in here where that is the suggested remedy for rear end clunking noises. One of my older friends has an 89 36v cc that is making noise when he lets off the go pedal. He wants me to see if I can fix it for him. From what I have read it sounds like motor centering bearing. Please help. ( Hopefully Dougmcp will give one of his 100 word explanations, that scottyb will interpret for me in 10 words lol, jk guys love reading your answers)

Re: Please educate me on motor centering bearing
The only bearing in the motor is the commutator bearing. its easy to change and gets noisey when its going bad.

Re: Please educate me on motor centering bearing
The bearing is in the motor, opposite end of the drive shaft. As said above, generally the noise from the bearing is heard when driving, provided you aren't laughing too loud listening to a talk radio show about Obama's promises to the nation (I couldn't help it). A clunking or similiar noise when pulling power such as letting up on the pedal quickly, or stepping on it, is more often from the input shaft at the othe end of the motor. I would check to make sure the input shaft and motor are still meshed well, with zero slop. Maybe put some anti-sieze to help quiet it down while you're at it.

Re: Please educate me on motor centering bearing
Club Car uses a couple of different "snubbers" between the motor and rear end.

Re: Please educate me on motor centering bearing
Thanks for the replies guys, I mispoke when I said I read about it on threads in here, It was on one of the other forums that I read, and they referred to it as a motor centering device. Sorry bout the mislead.
