Default solenoil hot after ride

I have a 98 ez go with 23 in tires, 400 amp Axe controller, upgraged solenoid, 2 gage wiring, and a brand new high speed Admiral motor. The batteries are 2 years old. After riding today for about an hour, everything felt like a normal temp. but the solenoid was hot. Is this normal?

The 100amp continuous/400amp peak solenoid is kind of small or light duty for that controller. I usually use a 200/800amp solenoid with that controller on street carts & a 400/1000 amp solenoid with that controller on carts intended for off road use.
If the solenoid keeps getting hot and hotter... it may need upgrading.

I mainly use the cart on road but occasionally off road. do you recomend the 400/1000? do you carry them?

Yes, the 36v 400/1000 amp solenoid with silver oxide contacts is the best available in it's class. Email or pm me with your zip code for a price.
