F/R switch upgrade
I was emailing scotty for a HD F/R switch and I have a melex 412e 350 amp curtis controller. Scotty said it looks the same but was not sure. Do the Pics look like a EZ GO switch. Has anyone used a EZ GO F/R switch on a melex? In the top pic the reverse buzzer micro is not on the switch at time of pics.

Re: F/R switch upgrade
Yes, it will fit, Yes it will work....... Yes, I have done this MANY times in the past
Keep in mind that Melex was a quality copy of an E-Z-GO and as such, most parts made for E-Z-GO will fit with little or no modifications. |

Re: F/R switch upgrade
It's actually one of the few things that I have had to replace on Melex carts..... I swear, they are bult better than E-Z-GO carts..... and you know I am partial to E-Z-GO.....

Re: F/R switch upgrade
So when you upgrade your 36 volt electric cart controller to a 400AMP what exactly do you have to replace with the F/R switch? Just the microswitches? If so they are hard to find and the rating is 15 amp at 480 volts with 1/2 amp at 125VDC. It is hard enough to find the micro switches that meet OEM. Does anyone know the part number or where to find a more heavy duty micro switch?

Re: F/R switch upgrade
The original micro switches (ms) are good on 48 volts and the original switch is good for use with a 400 amp controller if it is in good condition. If not replace it with a new HD F&R

Re: F/R switch upgrade
Ok thanks on the F/R switch. Yes we upgraded from the original 275Amp controller and had it rebuilt with the upgrade to 400. We replaced the stock solenoid with a 400/1000 amp superduty solenoid with new resistor and diode. Also replaced the copper bolts on the F/R switch. Disassembled the motor last year and replaced brushes and contacts and cleaned armature/windings. We were having problems with the cart with low end torque and not climbing hills. New batteries about 2 years ago and have the Battery Minder with desulfator. Wiring diagrams are freakin confusing and different from every angle. Melex,EZ-GO, Curtis Speed Controller, Solenoid manufacturer. They are all a little different and with twists. We use if for hunting so I took the back up beeper out of the circuit. When we first hooked up the new controller and solenoid it smoked the old original F/R microswitches. So we have located some of those and should have them tomorrow to replace. This is a 1987 Model 152 Serial #193374 36 volt with Curtis Speed Controller. I am attaching the wiring diagram that I believe is correct. I color coded the wiring to match what was original wiring on this cart. This has taken quite some time to clean up these drawings and do this. Maybe someone else can use what I have done. If anyone has a drawing that is better or specific to this cart I would appreciate anything anyone has. Well I was going to attach a drawing but I guess I am not smarter than a 5th grader. I have the drawing in both Word and PDF but when I try to attach is asks me for a URL. I guess I don't know how to attach my drawing using URL. I can cut and paste but that is not going to get it here.
